Adama Traoré banned from lifting weights at West Ham

Adama Traore has been ordered to stay away from the weights room by Nuno Espirito Santo following his January move to West Ham United.
The Hammers boss has strictly forbidden the powerful winger from lifting weights at the club’s Rush Green training ground, insisting that his naturally muscular frame requires careful management rather than further strength training.
Nuno believes additional gym work could hinder Traoré’s agility and explosive style of play.
“It’s incredible; it’s genetics. His genetics have been like this for a while now, and he should avoid the gym. I told him to stay away from the gym. It’s one of the things I believe he should realise. He carries enough weight. He’ll do prevention work, but he’s not going to lift weights,” he said.
Traoré, 30, reunited with Nuno after a successful spell together at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Since arriving in East London, he has undergone specific physical tailoring by West Ham’s medical and coaching staff to maintain peak condition without compromising his speed.
The Spaniard has previously insisted he does not lift weights, although team-mate Crysencio Summerville recently shared a video on social media showing Traoré working out in the gym, challenging that perception.
