Bawumia embodies leadership qualities NPP needs – Ibrahim Adjei backs Atta Akyea

Ibrahim Adjei, former Assistant Secretary at the Office of former President Akufo-Addo, has strongly endorsed comments by former Works and Housing Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, urging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect a presidential candidate with the temperament and character befitting a national and global leader.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Thursday, November 27, Mr Adjei said Atta Akyea’s caution to NPP delegates aligns with a broader consensus within the political space.
According to him, maturity and leadership character should be at the forefront of the party’s decision-making ahead of the 2026 presidential primaries, stressing that any objective observer, regardless of political affiliation, would agree with Atta Akyea’s call.
“Every matured person in politics would agree with Atta Akyea, regardless of your political affiliation,” he said.
He argued that beyond competence and vision, a flagbearer must demonstrate the temperament, humility, and global presence required of a modern statesman. He stated that the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumi, fully embodies those qualities, describing him as a leader with the capability to transform the country and inspire confidence both locally and internationally.
“Apart from having all the capability to shape the country and build people’s prosperity, that person should exhibit every single thing you want in a leader. Everybody will tell you, even the NDC will say that in terms of his vision, conduct and personality, he is a formidable politician,” he emphasised.
Reaffirming his confidence in Bawumia’s chances, Mr Adjei predicted victory for Dr Bawumia when the NPP goes to the polls on January 31, 2026. “Coming January 31, 2026, Alhaji Bawumia will be declared the winner and the flagbearer of the NPP to go into the 2028 election,” he stated.
