Berekum West MP launches education fund to boost access and infrastructure
The Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere-Duah, has launched the Berekum West Education Fund, a flagship initiative aimed at improving access to education and strengthening school infrastructure across the constituency.
Unveiled at a ceremony in Jinijini, the Fund seeks to provide scholarships for brilliant but needy students, supply critical teaching and learning resources, and upgrade facilities in deprived schools.
Kyere-Duah described education as the greatest equaliser and a vital tool for unlocking opportunities, stressing that the initiative will help drive socio-economic transformation in Berekum West.
The launch drew broad support from traditional leaders, clergy, development partners, and indigenes of the constituency, both home and abroad.
Guests made generous cash donations and pledges to guarantee the Fund’s sustainability. Contributors included corporate organisations, professional associations, alumni groups, and individuals.
Funding will be sourced from fundraising events, corporate sponsorships, donor partnerships, and contributions from citizens at home and in the diaspora. A Fund Committee comprising educationists, traditional authorities, civil society, and professionals will oversee management to ensure transparency and accountability.
Annual reports and audited accounts will be published.
Stakeholders have lauded the initiative as a milestone in educational development, with local leaders pledging continued support.
The Fund is expected to transform the lives of countless students and raise educational standards in the constituency, positioning education as a key pillar for long-term socio-economic progress.
