Bryan Acheampong: I stay committed despite the challenges in the NPP competition
The presidential candidate from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong, asserts his determination to continue his campaign despite what he refers to as a series of attacks and unfounded allegations during the party’s internal race.
These remarks come in response to criticism arising from a video that has been shared on social media, which seemed to imply that he held fellow candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, responsible for the conflict between Mamprusi and Kusasi in the northern region. His campaign team has dismissed these accusations, affirming that the video was “maliciously edited and maliciously labeled.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Dr. Acheampong remarked, “Indeed, I have faced significant attacks. Untruths have circulated about my character. Fabricated materials have been disseminated to challenge my reputation. Yet, amidst this, I remain committed, concentrating not on revenge but on recovery.”
He emphasized the need for the internal competition to prioritize ideas and vision rather than personal insults. “This should be a battle of thoughts, of leadership, and of a clear vision for power. It must be approached with the respect it merits.”
The MP for Abetifi also urged his followers to behave with decorum and to refrain from inappropriate conduct. “I kindly urge all my supporters to avoid harsh language, personal insults, and the spread of false information. We must not replicate the strategies we aim to transcend.”
Dr. Acheampong wrapped up by highlighting that his campaign is focused on fostering unity within the NPP rather than merely securing the flagbearer position.
“We are creating something much larger than a campaign. We are establishing a movement aimed at unifying and revitalizing our cherished New Patriotic Party. Let our words offer healing, not hurt. Let our actions motivate, not provoke. Let our behavior exemplify the future we aspire to lead. Together, we stand united. Together, we rebuild.”
