Dr Bawumia’s Votes In Ashanti In The 2028 Elections Can Hit 75% With A High Turnout – Ofosu Nkansah
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, Former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) CEO, has stated that Dr Bawumia’s votes in Ashanti in the 2028 elections can hit 75% with a high turnout.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah reframed the analysis of the NPP’s 2024 performance in its Ashanti Region stronghold, arguing that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 65.36% vote share mirrors historical precedent and points to significant growth potential in 2028 with higher voter turnout.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah analysed that both President Kufuor and Dr Bawumia had 65% of Ashanti Region votes in their first attempt. The difference, however, is that in 1996, the NPP had a turnout of 79% in Ashanti, while they had a low turnout of 64% in 2024.
He boldly predicted that Dr Bawumia’s votes in Ashanti in the next election can hit 75% with a high turnout.
Nkansah refutes claims that Bawumia’s 65.36% signals weakening NPP dominance in Ashanti, framing it instead as a strong baseline. He believes that the 2024 general election result wasn’t underperformance; it was rather low turnout.
The NPP is set to elect its flagbearer in January 2026. Only time will tell if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be re-elected to lead the NPP in the 2028 election.
