Facts
Describing the details of the case, Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer mentioned that on June 11, 2025, the complainants, who are affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), attended the re-run of the parliamentary elections in Ablekuma North.
While visiting the polling stations, upon arriving at the Methodist Church Polling Station, Hawa Koomson and Sanaa were assaulted by the accused individuals.
After security personnel at the polling station intervened to help, the accused then went on to attack Kwei, who was present at the polling center without any reason for the assault.
The prosecutor explained that all complainants were subsequently taken to Odorkor Police Station and the Regional/CID/AR, where they officially filed assault complaints.
“Police medical forms were provided to them, after which they went for medical treatment. The accused were later apprehended and they all denied the charges during their caution statements.
“Following the investigation, they were charged with the offenses and brought before this honorable court,” the prosecutor informed the court.
