A 2018 video showing the late former President Jerry John Rawlings recounting how he won the heart of his late wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, has popped up.
In the throwback footage, Rawlings fondly recalled his long and persistent courtship of Nana Konadu, a story he shared during an appearance on the television show Dining with Cooks & Braggarts.
The late president narrated that it took him five years of persistence to finally win Nana Konadu’s affection after they both completed school.
“For five years, five! After I left school and came back. One Saturday, with a gang of friends, we went to their house and I sent for her. I didn’t think she would come but she did,” he recounted.
He went on to describe his youthful determination to get closer to Nana Konadu.
According to him, she was initially hostile towards h but her attitude changed after that meeting.
“You know, she had mellowed towards me. It was all love,” Rawlings said with a smile.
Amid laughter, he also confessed to using a classic courtship tactic, pretending to be interested in Nana Konadu’s friends just so he could walk with their group and be near her.
