Let us remain together and respectful – Oppong Nkrumah calls for unity

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the ex-Information Minister and MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi, has urged the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to carry out their internal campaigns with respect as the party gets ready for its upcoming flagbearer election.

In a conversation on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah emphasized the importance of showing respect among party members throughout the internal race to maintain unity after the elections.

“We are at a juncture where there will be competition within the party. I appeal to everyone to remember that all candidates are from our party, so we must choose our words carefully and be considerate in our campaigning,” he stated.

He cautioned that insults and personal grievances could undermine the party’s unity, making it challenging to reconcile after the elections.

“Let’s express our opinions with respect. If we harm one another now, it will be tough to unite after the elections,” he warned.

The former Minister also pointed out the differences in the energy and resources typically invested in internal elections compared to general elections, encouraging members to prioritize unity and shared goals.

“We are in the process of selecting our flagbearer. Let’s do this in a cooperative manner so that whoever is chosen, we can all support that individual. Let’s remain united and behave kindly for the sake of our success,” he continued.
