Mahama won’t abuse NDC’s two-thirds majority in Parliament – Kutor

A National Executive Committee member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Victor Wonder Kutor, has assured Ghanaians that President John Dramani Mahama will not abuse the two-thirds majority the party currently holds in Parliament.

Speaking on Point Blank, a segment on Eyewitness News, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Mr Kutor noted that with 187 members of Parliament, the NDC commands a two-thirds majority. However, he stressed that President Mahama would not misuse this advantage or act unconstitutionally, but rather use it to advance reforms and pass key legislation.

“I want to assure you and the people of Ghana, this is not a president that will abuse the ⅔ majority we have in Parliament,” he said.

“Basically, the bills, the reforms, the changes we need, we do not see any impediment coming our way.”

Mr Kutor also commended President Mahama for his judicious use of discretionary powers, describing it as a critical quality in governance.

“We have a president who knows how to exercise discretionary powers,” he added.
