‘NPP can only elect a flagbearer; they can’t win 2028′ – Jirapa MP

The Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no realistic chance of returning to power in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, the party may succeed in electing a flagbearer, but that will be the end of their progress.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, and monitored by GhanaWeb, he argued that the NPP’s electoral fortunes have diminished significantly due to what he described as the strong performance of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC administration.

“NPP can only elect a flagbearer; they are going nowhere in 2028. They can’t win the good works of President Mahama, and the NDC will make them lose,” he stated.

Dapilah insisted that the NDC’s development agenda and policy initiatives are winning the confidence of Ghanaians, particularly in areas of infrastructure, social welfare, and economic management.

He claimed that these achievements are already shaping public opinions ahead of the next election.

Dapilah also criticised the NPP for what he described as a legacy of economic mismanagement and unfulfilled promises, adding that voters will not easily forget the hardships experienced under their governance.

The Jirapa MP further stated that the NDC will remain focused on delivering its mandate and strengthening governance institutions, rather than engaging in political propaganda.

He urged party supporters to remain committed and united as the party prepares for 2028.
