NPP needs a ‘bold and firm’ flagbearer – Former MP

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuano in the Eastern Region, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect a bold and courageous person as flagbearer ahead of the 2028 elections.

Speaking on Kasapa FM’s Morning Show, Ghana Kasa on Thursday, 6th November, 2025, the former lawmaker said it is only a vibrant and dynamic person who can return the party to power.

The ideal flagbearer, he said, should also have the ideas and should also be well-resourced to fund the party’s 2028 campaign.

“NPP needs a flagbearer with ideas, one who is well-resourced to fund the party’s campaign and firm enough to withstand bullying in 2028….” He said.

The experienced politician told show host, Akua Sonto, that he considers Dr. Bryan Acheampong as the person with the needed qualities to lead a party like NPP to power.
His belief, he added, is based on the fact that Dr Acheampong has shown through several accomplishments that he is capable of bringing the party back to power.

He also stated that Dr Bryan Acheampong is also a unifier who when elected flagbearer of the NPP, can unite the various factions within the party to wrestle power in 2028.
“Dr Bryan Acheampong has presented himself as a ‘compromised candidate’; he is the unifier NPP needs for victory in 2028…members of Alan Kyerematen’s United Party (UP) may return to NPP when Bryan Acheampong is elected flagbearer,” he said.
