Parliament approves World Bank $360 million for the budget of 2025

A financing agreement worth $360 million for the Second Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing between the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) and the government has received parliamentary approval.

On Tuesday, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the deputy finance minister, provided a detailed overview of the facility to the members of the House.

This funding aims to improve citizens’ living conditions, stimulate economic expansion, ensure macroeconomic stability, curb inflation, and foster a resurgence in economic growth.

During discussions, the Minority voiced their concerns about the facility, yet the Finance Committee recommended that it be approved.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who serves as the lead member of the Committee on Economy and Development, accused the government of obscuring what he referred to as a loan agreement under vague terminology.

The subsequent approval came after the Finance Committee’s suggestion to endorse its report on the funding arrangement.
