Speed up high-profile corruption cases – Inusah Fuseini to OSP

Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has called for the swift prosecution of high-profile corruption cases to reduce public anxiety and strengthen deterrence.
According to him, until influential individuals accused of corruption are prosecuted and convicted promptly, the fight against corruption will remain weak and may even embolden others to engage in similar acts.
Speaking during a Q&A session on X Space on Sunday, November 23, by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Fuseini proposed the establishment of fast-track courts to handle corruption cases more efficiently.
He noted that corruption had been enabled under the previous administration, contributing to heightened public impatience and expectation for decisive action.
“Until high-profile persons are prosecuted and convicted, others will not learn. The OSP must understand that the restlessness of Ghanaians is based on what they have seen before,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that eight individuals—including former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta—are to be arraigned on Monday, November 24, over their alleged involvement in the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) revenue assurance contracts.
The OSP has filed 78 charges against Mr. Ofori-Atta and the seven others in connection with the controversial agreements between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited
