Breaking News: Kwahuhemaa freed following morning kidnapping

Kwahuhemaa Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III has been freed after being taken during a morning invasion at the home of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council, a confirmation from the Ghana Police Service stated.

This announcement was shared on the Ghana Police Service’s X platform on Monday, November 17, 2025.

“The Inspector-General of Police has authorized the release of the Kwahu Queen Mother following an operation conducted by certain officers this morning,” noted the update.

Additionally, it mentioned that a probe into the event has been initiated and that security measures in the vicinity have been enhanced.

“The IGP has also instructed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to investigate the details surrounding the operation, and any officers found responsible will face repercussions. In the meantime, security has been heightened in and around Kwahu to safeguard everyone,” the post continued.

Paramount Chief Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III reported that armed individuals, alleging to be police officers, invaded the palace at approximately 4:30 a.m., discharged firearms, and abducted multiple individuals.

The queen mother was found to be missing only after the raid took place.

“I received a notification around 4:30 a.m. that armed individuals had forced their way into the palace. They apprehended those present and took them away to an undisclosed site. I reached out to the Kwahu Police Commander at Abetifi, but he claimed to be unaware of the men and any ongoing operation. I have attempted to contact the queen mother numerous times, but she did not respond,” he shared.

The event purportedly left the local community in a state of shock and apprehension.
