Yeji District Court remands Kobby Gh for allegedly murdering his girlfriend

The Yeji District Court has reiterated the need for Hayford Boateng, known as Kobby Gh, to remain in police custody until July 10 due to allegations of discharging a firearm that resulted in the death of a person identified as Yaababy, who is thought to be his girlfriend.

After conducting further inquiries and questioning, the Court has cleared Kojo Diamond – Obolo and others who were present during the tragic event in Seker, a small locality near Yeji in the Bono East Region.

It is important to note that GH Kobby was taken into custody for reportedly unintentionally shooting his girlfriend, Philipa Yaa Baby, in Seker, Yeji on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

The social media influencer is said to have shot his girlfriend in the left arm after taking a gun from his luxury vehicle to discharge warning shots.

In connection with the incident, the police have also detained Kobby’s two male companions to aid in the investigation.

As per witness statements, Yaababy was immediately taken to St Martin’s Hospital in Yeji, where she was declared dead.

During court proceedings on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the prosecutor from the Yeji police service chose to halt the original case and present a new charge against the main suspect, Kobby Gh.

The prosecution at the Yeji Magistrate Court expressed its belief that Kobby Gh was responsible for the death of the victim.

The prosecutor asserted that Kobby Gh should continue to be held in police custody to facilitate a deeper investigation into the matter, while his two friends, Kojo Emmanuel and Michael Kabutey, were released.

Following the judge’s directive, Kobby Gh is set to appear in court once more on July 10, 2025.
