Kuami Eugene mentions that he has never perceived KiDi or any other artist at Lynx Entertainment as rivals, contrary to widespread public belief regarding their competition.
During a conversation with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the Rockstar shared that his primary concern while at the label was to endure rather than to eclipse his peers. “To be honest, I’ve never regarded KiDi as a competitor, even up to now. I haven’t viewed anyone at Lynx as a rival,” he stated.
He pointed out that his entry into the label was under quite distinct circumstances.
“When I arrived there, they were focused on their own projects, and I came to concentrate on mine. I was more driven than any of them, and that isn’t their fault,” he explained.
Kuami Eugene revealed that his initial experiences at Lynx were characterized by challenges and determination. “Perhaps they had already achieved a lot by the time they joined Lynx Entertainment. I started with nothing. I had to construct everything from the ground up, which likely left me more prepared than they were. I had a lot at stake. ”
He compared his circumstances with KiDi’s, recalling that while KiDi had a car, he was “walking from Fadama to Achimota to access the company’s studio,” often lacking sufficient rest.
“Maybe KiDi was just laid back until he realized I was genuinely motivated, and that created a sense of competition for him, prompting him to step up.” Nevertheless, he maintained that he never viewed his endeavors as a race. “For me, it wasn’t about competition whatsoever. ”
Kuami Eugene emphasized his profound respect for his fellow artists, expressing that he viewed Lynx as an environment to learn from KiDi, MzVee, DJ Vyrusky, Richie Mensah, and others.
“Competition? No individual was a rival at Lynx Entertainment. I regarded it as a family atmosphere where I could acquire valuable lessons about life from those individuals. ”
He stated that his drive stemmed from a wish to achieve, rather than to surpass any individual.
“But in terms of that hunger for success in music, striving to create a hit song, I wasn’t engaged in any competition. I came here to endure,” he stated.
